Bayside Church, formally known as Bayside Covenant Church, is a family of churches centered on its primary campus in Granite Bay, California, United States. Bayside traces its informal beginnings to 1994. Worried that the community didn’t have resources available to serve troubled youth, a group of parents joined together to pray for help. The group soon increased, and in 2004 Bayside Church built a permanent facility. Bayside is one of the largest churches in the Sacramento metropolitan area.

The Secret to God’s Power | Bayside Church
This church has saved my life, and is the best thing to ever happen to me. People here are warm, friendly, and full of light. They help you with actually integrating God into your daily life. They show you how you can enjoy the world around you without losing your soul to consumerism, greed, gluttony, lust, envy, and anger. They accept me as a feminist and a single person. There are female pastors, confident teenagers, carefree children, loving and attentive leaders, and former inmates who hold the door open for you to the church cafe. You can shout with joy or cry over past grief -- either way, someone will be right beside you to listen and join you. This church is as close to heaven as you will ever get on earth.
I spent several years at Bayside Church (2015–2019), attending weekly services, joining a small group, and regularly going to the Thursday night 18.25 service. I genuinely wanted this place to be a spiritual home, but over time it became clear it wasn’t. Bayside operates more like a brand than a church. The emphasis on money, growth, and production overshadowed humility and faith. Repeated references by Pastor Ray Johnston to his wealth and lifestyle in Granite Bay made it uncomfortable to sit through sermons while donation appeals were front and center. The church is also deeply entangled in politics. What finally stood out to me was the selective empathy, dedicated services and public support for C. Kirk, while remaining silent about Renee Good. That contrast was hard to ignore and left me questioning whose pain and voices actually matter here. Services rely heavily on spectacle, loud music, lights, and stage production, which may appeal to some, but felt hollow and performative rather than spiritually grounded. I left years ago and won’t be returning. If you’re seeking a faith community rooted in compassion, inclusivity, and Christ-like values, this may not be the place.
Bayside has become my home church ever since I lived in Loomis a few years ago. Great Bible based, Jesus loving, people focused and mission oriented church. Great place to connect with good people and fellowship in a relaxing and presence of God filled atmosphere.
If you're searching for a church deeply committed to community involvement, look no further. This congregation offers impactful, Bible-centered teaching straight from scripture, ensuring every message is grounded in faith. The atmosphere is uplifted by truly excellent music, and parents will especially appreciate the wonderful, engaging children's ministry—it's clear the kids are a priority here. Highly recommended!
Playground is enclosed in the fence, and the splash pad is right next to it. Son loved playing here while we waited for our next appointment. Sadly not much shade on hot days so be prepared for that. Only shade is under the trees away from the water and your kiddo. Super nice here! Water was cold and it was a good time! Side note, there are no bathrooms that we could find.
