I’ve attended this church three times, and as a Christian I want to share an honest and respectful review for anyone considering making it their home. The worship segment has consistently been good, well led and engaging. Unfortunately, it’s been difficult to find much else to commend. Each time I’ve attended, the teaching has felt questionable and not particularly edifying. On 05/10/25, the message was on sex and desire. The lead pastor, Tim, began with a fair overview of the subject, but the tone shifted when his wife took the stage. She spoke at length about her past sexual experiences before marriage, stating that her husband was a virgin while she was not. She went on to reference her support for feminism and liberal ideologies, which are clearly at odds with biblical teaching. She even joked that she went from “lots of casual sex” to “copious mundane sex” in marriage, an unnecessary and disrespectful remark toward her husband, especially from the pulpit. At that point, I felt the Spirit prompting me to leave. Regardless of intentions, the content lacked reverence and crossed into oversharing. Scripture teaches that a wife should honour her husband as the head (1 Corinthians 11:3), and this moment reflected the opposite. If you’re curious, visit once and discern for yourself, but I would strongly caution anyone considering this church as a long-term spiritual home.
Wonderful church and community, with strong Organisation and flow for guests … Now attending my 4th conference with this church for worship, teaching and equipping and they are serving the UK church so well. The sound engineers and production are doing wonders here, easy to follow all talking and singing throughout. The presence of God rests in this place. Looking forward to more of its fruit
My family and I have visited Gas Street Church when travelling to Birmingham from Ireland. I loved the passion in worshipping God, the beautiful message brought by Nick and the loving care of Liz in the Worship team for my daughter that approached her for advices, as she is also member of our local church Worship team in Shannon, Ireland. Only constructive feedback I give is regarding to a more proactive Welcoming team regarding engaging with visitors, but of course it's a big congregation with many visitors in all services, so it's completely understandable. Get encouraged! You guys are doing the difference in this generation and time by sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ! Can't wait to visit you guys again!
Great venue, Worship and Preaching. But I was a new visitor with my partner and no one took the time to say hello to us, even though we arrived early. Also when offered to come up for prayer at the end, stood around waiting for 10 minutes and no one did pray for my partner. Shame they really need to work on their hospitality... But fine if you just want to pop in as a guest and be anonymous.
Finally made it for a service and thoroughly enjoyed the friendly, welcome team, as well as the music and message. We'll be back when in the Birmingham city centre!
